Hi guys! I've had decent success working on a Roland VS840 but need more tracks and just got spoiled in Nashville doing sessions with a producer using a G4 and Logic. For around $1500-2000 what would be a good next step - I'm very comfrotable on computers but reading the posts here, it seems at times like working with them might end up being a money pit.

Posted this after reading your post in the nearfield post. Like most here I've done most of my mixing on nearfields, but I'm building a new room and I'm struggling with the whole soffit mount speaker thing at the moment.
Basically I'm wondering if you could ramble on a bit about mounting bigger speakers and perhaps recommend some brands I could look into.

Has anyone else heard of this drummer?
He's played with everyone from Coltrane, Monk, to Chick Corea (early Chick Corea, you know "Now He sings, Now He sobs).

Anyway, I just had to say he's influenced me more than any other drummer. And to this point I ask, what drummer's have influenced you guys the most?

I have a pavillion 128 ram, 30gig hardrive, running windows me, Sonar and every other software package known to man. (It's also my home PC) I also have a Roland VS-880ex and I move audio back and forth from that to the PC. The PC seems unstable. occasional dropouts. I would like a dedicated PC but. there's that money thing.

We've managed to get a pretty killer sounding fat keys bass that sounds like John Paul Jones (with the right player!), but using the Yamaha midi sound module that had the only workable bass sound I could find, this required radical parametric EQing (15db cuts and adds! ) and some other wizardry.

My friend came to me and asked if I would produce an album. His reference is TOTO! So in next few weeks I'll have to produce TOTO sound... :)

Please help me out with some ideas how is that music mixed and what kind of recording equipment is used.

I'm interested in what you guys might think of this. Someone sent me the link to this page and I've had a lot of fun listening to these tunes. I kinda thought this might spark some discussion on the improvements in recording technology. Or possibly it can serve as a catalyst to some talk about the changes in music styles over the years.

I am a dance music producer looking for something to track my synths through before dropping them into my DAW. I run a MOTU 1224 system with Logic Audio, which ain't the best but suits my current budget. I then spit the outs through a tasty old AMEK console I have, with various bits of outboard.

Good/bad idea? Haven't got the chance to try it out, maybe one of you guys did once? I'm after a heavy metal kinda drumsound. Now I got a pair of C1000's, but they suck... Maybe a pair of NT1000 would do a better job. I already got 1, maybe I should buy a second.

Just wondering if anyone has been using Digi Studio. The NAMM show demo was pretty cool, I'd really like to hook up with some other folks and give this a try. branch out of our local scene and perhaps make some friends abroad.
