Running snakes to a patchbay
I am in the process of building a studio in my good friends home. The studio is about 900sqft, it has a large live room, 2 iso booths and a large control room. The studio is being built to be as soundproof as possible, double wall construction, two layers of drywall with green glue, etc...

Interface quality?
I have a Univ Audio Solo 610 preamp and AKG 414XLS. I'm a singer/songwriter and will probably just record vocal and acoustic guitar thru a condenser mic. Want to achieve best sound quality. Does interface matter? Does preamp let you bypass interface "influence"? Would garageband be all i'd need ( assuming sound quality does not suffer)?
Thanks !

Regarding audio assignment for uni
Hey guys any audio engineers out there that i coud ask a few questions in relation to (need qoutes from the professional industry);
What contributions an audio engineer would make to the outcome of a recording proect?
What is a good skillset to them?
Engineers responsibilities?
Technical skills?
Creative skills?
Interpersonel skills?

Pro Tools 8 Sample Rate 48khz playing slow
I've been recording in the studio at 48khz/24 on a mac running Pro Tools 9. I want to do some additional tracks at home on my Sony Viao Windows 7 running Pro Tools 8. I've tried opening the session and it gives me messages about plugins not available, that's ok, but then it is playing slow. So, I tried making a new session at 48khz and importing the files but it's still slow. any ideas?

FREAKING AWESOME! Q12 monitor!
I got to listen to 2 q12 monitors positioned in the mid field range and i swear ive never in my life heard any speaker pump out vocals to the clarity level as they did today!
Everything else was great about the speaker, but the vocals were off the freak in charts! Has anyone else used these in a studio and what near field monitors did they run with them?
Thanks...

New opera at Sydney Opera House with 3D sound
Hello everyone! Great news! IOSONO 3D sound teamed up with Sydney Opera House to present a new version of the opera "Die tote Stadt" by Korngold.
Next to our focus on cinema sound we thought it might be interesting how it sounds when an orchestra sound can be heard in state-of-the-art 3D sound technology.
