Hi. I am new to recording and this forum and I wanted some advice on reducing static and other background noise when recording. I am attempting to record a guitar and a mic through direct input to my pc (I don't have an interface yet) and with both i get a constant static.

Hey guys. I am just a rookie producer/engineer with a small collection of mics. I mostly use my AKG C414, my MXL V69 and my AT 2020. I usually stereo mic acoustic guitars, pianos etc with my C414 and either of the other two, depending on circumstance. Producer friends are telling me that I should invest in a stereo set. But I don't get what the difference is.

Does anyone know if the Mbox2 has better sound quality then the Inspire1394(which I currently use).

I use the two 1/4th instrument jacks in the front of the Inspire 1394 to record a synth and I am wondering if an mbox2 would give me better sound quality.

Im having a few problems recording after I changed my set up at home.

I used to use a Yamaha audiogram3 as an interface to record audio from my Yamaha PSR-175 keyboard and a microphone which I can no longer remember the make of, into Cubase Ai4. This worked fine and was great for recording guitar etc...

I know I've voiced my thoughts on this before but I'm going to do it again and I would love to hear what other people think and what your ideas of what the perfect DAW might be.

I'm currently attempting to record a grand piano, and have run in to a few little hick ups. To give you an idea of my set up... I have one Shure SM81 mic which is running through a lower end M Audio interface. I wish I could record it in stereo, but this is all I can afford at the moment.

Has anyone seen any good tutorials on mixing multitrack trance music songs? I'm needing help on how much to crank up EQ for which sounds, whether to use compression on this kick or that snare and how much.

I want to build up my re-amping chops so I'm looking at boxes and tips. What makes a better box than another and any tips you can share, please do.
