Does Tascam US-144 need preamp?

Just ordered a Tascam US-144 interface. I currently have a PreSonus BlueTube mic preamp (older blue version) that I was trying to get rid of thinking that I didn't need it, but it occurred to me that it might be a better quality preamp than what is in the Tascam. I can bypass the Tascam mic preamp by using line in, correct?

dbx 160a What is it like?

I have a lot of experience with high-endcompressors like distressors, manley, 1176's, API etc. I am looking for some utility compression that you can use for "less important duties". For example when I have a dense mix happening and I need to squeeze in a keyboard or some other element I need something to really contain the source.

Need help in selecting material for my home studio

I am in the process of finishing a sound isolated room, it is a double wall set-up. (box inside a box) From what I understand, any noise not blocked by the first wall will enter the cavity and bounce around between both hard surfaces so some means of absorption within the cavity is necessary. A few questions, the first is why.
