External HD questions
Forums
I use an internal Hard Drive right now, but I want to get an external for the sole purpose of my recording.
Is a USB 2.0 connection going to be fast enough if I'm recording several tracks at once. I have an 8 pre interface and I often use all of them at once.

Name Suggestions
Forums
Not sure if this is the spot for this but here goes.
Since I am finally trying to legitimize my business (of hosting events, dj, live sound, etc) I think its probably time to come up with a good name to go by.
Lets hear some suggestions, as I am always bad about coming up with names! I'm thinking something possibly ending with Entertainment or Sound...but what do you think

Should I get an RME Fireface 800 or Lynx Aurora 8?
Forums
First of all I use Cubase 5 on vista 64 bit (soon windows 7 64 bit) So please point out to me whether one of them aren't even compatible.
I want the best sounding card I can possibly get that will make an Avalon preamp sound as good as possible and have worth while features.
Avoiding over modulation...
Forums
Hey guys, I'm recording a new track and on a few really long and loud notes I'm clipping somewhere on the way into the DAW. It's not clipping in Logic...I've tried reducing the channel volume going into the mixer from the mic (a Karma k-58) but it doesn't seem to be helping because the volume of the vox just gets lower but the note still over-modulates.

5K Budget, what should I buy for recording gear?
Forums
Ok, now I have 5k to invest in some recording gear and I wonder what you guys think I should buy?
I don't need any console or board since I already have a decent controller.
The only thing I have is a PreSonus Firepod recording interface..
Please help me choose the right gear!
Thanks! :
Oh Please help. Nightmare situation.
Forums
Hey everyone. I hate to start another one of these threads but here goes.
I am working on two major projects right now. One is a scoring project and the other is a recording project.
I have a Sonica Labs Hush quad-core 2.66 with a main drive, a sample drive, and an audio drive respectively named C, D, and E. I am still running XP 32 professional.

Firewire 400/800
Forums
Just wondering between Firewire 400 and 800 what most people have connected and currently using and any specific conclusion or opinions on either.
Also like to know if you use your onboard FW connector or if you use a separate PCI or PCIe card slot FW port.
And lastly does anyone know a way to test the speed or determine the speed of the FW connection.

I have no idea what I'm doing.. lol I need help.
Forums
I recently just bought a MXL V63M Condenser Microphone, Nady 10' USB interface Chord and I have been trying to figure out how to make this stuff work on my Mac Os X.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING. I though I could just put the USB chord with the mic and shazam but I have a feeling thats not the only thing I need.
What else do I need to do?
Build PRS?
Forums
I am in the shop for a new guitar. I would buy a Tremonti PRS but it's just way to expensive. I also considered a Warmoth guitar with the same woods and part but it won't be the same. What can I do for a guitar that's in that "relaxed" Les Paul style and is "shredable"?
Thanks for any and all help

Beginner's new set up... Advice?
Forums
I'm new here, but I appreciate the help and advice.
Two main questions:
Did I get nice equipment? (as nice as a college student ought to have, not pro but nice. Who knows were THAT line is drawn. :) )
