6" or 8" Monitors with 10" KRK Sub?

Hello, I am about to purchase a complete studio monitoring system consisting of a pair of KRK RP6 G2 or RP8 G2 studio monitors with the KRK 10S subwoofer. The question at hand is: should I go with the RP6 or RP8 pair? What are the advantages of each in this setup? Any comments on 6" vs. 8" monitors, in general? And their use with a subwoofer system, in general?

Some notes:

Something is wrong with my amp

There has got to be something wrong with it. I recorded my guitar DI a few nights ago and finally got around to reamping it today. Just out of curiosity I put an amp sI'm on the files before I reamped. Sounded great, excellent even, so I know it's not the guitar signal.

I have narrowed it down to two possibilities:

Hand held recording for live performances

My goal is to make "decent" quality recordings at live performances in bars and other similarly sized venues. I have looked at hand held recording units and would like to know if they would give me a recording that was of comparable quality. I have been looking at products like the Sony PCM-D50 Portable Linear PCM Digital Recorder. Any advice or suggestions?
