my old system was a TYAN S2885 with Opteron 246's SCSI based. i have started a newer system to replace it. i record multi-track sessions w/ 16-40 track count typical (no samples) for paying customers so stability and speed is key.

I am new to all this so I figured I would ask what all your work-flow is when creating music. Do you start with drums/rhythm, melody, etc. Thanks for your thoughts.

I've been recording for fun for a few years and was a little frustrated by how inferior my stuff sounds to real pro studio stuff. I have a Firebox, GT55 condenser, Shure beta58a, sm86 condenser, pg58, Cubase sx3, Waves plugins, Joemeek vc3 and PreSonus tube pre.

Evening! not sure if that has been touched on before but i haven;t found anything yet. Not sure if its possible and/or wise to record directly to an external Hard Drive?

I need like an INDEPTH explanation, lol. Is there a site that I could read that has like a lengthy instruction on it - I need to know everything there is to know :/

I rock a PV14 mixer (among other junk) with both stereo and/or mono outs. I currently monitor either through headphones, or occasionally through a pair of 2 little Kustom (i know, go f- yourself) passive monitors powered by a Crate power block amp (hell of deal)...this rig works, but is obviously not giving me a great sound.

Hello - My first post on this site. Wondering if anyone our there can comment on the Tascam US 144 - would like some feedback on it. I have a small home studio and use Sonar Home Studio 7XL with Edirol UA 4 Fx usb interface. THis is a single channel.

All the time when I am mixing I find a use for something like this, but do not own one, nor do I know if one even exists. Imagine putting a compressor plug on a single stereo track and having the comp affect the L and R channels independently of eachother. Does such a plug exist? I am sure that they make devices capable of this, but how about software?
