Dell crap- NO PCI SLOTS

I bought a Dell computer with an i7 a month ago. I want to use it for several things, but I was hoping to record on it as well. I told the MicroCenter employee this. I saw the 4 PCI slots in the back and felt comfortable. It is a fast PC. A month later, I open up the back to stick in a sound card and see it has only one slot- which is currently occupied by a graphics card.

is a Tascam soundcard a good way to start a home studio

i have a basic drum microphone recording kit. It has 4 different microphones. I aslso have a Tascam soundcard with two mic inputs for live recording and another two inputs. I currently am thinking about getting a macbook for my recorsding laptop. is this good? and if i need more inputs should i get another soundcard and move up to a mixer?

Tutorials on how to hear what is needed in a song?

Hey,

Does any one know of any websites which offer projects to download then give step by step tutorials with the projects to show you how the basics work and teach you how to hear what is needed in a song?

Or if not a website a CD kinda thing that can be bought in a shop or online, some kind of interactive one, books are okay but i prefer some interaction.

Problem with sound level of my whole mixes!

Hi! I've been recording with Cubase since 4 years now. Since the beginning, I always have a problem when it comes to sound level and loudness of my final mixes. I can't get my mixes to sound as lound as a normal radio song without clipping. My stereo output always clip when I'm loud enough.
