Take the liquidmix challenge

This challenge provides ten different excerpts; each features a dry sample, followed by two processed samples, A and B. One of these is processed through the original vintage or classic hardware, the other through a Liquid Mix emulation of the same unit. The question is, ‘which is which?

I scored 70% correct but, my ears preferred the liquid mix (go figure).

Studio Headphones.

Hi Everybody,

I've been looking around at reasonably affordable studio headphones. One's such as the Beyerdynamic DT 990's, AKG's K271 & 171 and I would love to know which would be the best buy for use in mixing & editing situations. I know that ideally monitors should be used but for the work I'm doing headphones are necessary.
So, any suggestions?

newb starting out and need some advice..

I have recorded a few things in the past with my old band, but I don't have all the things I use to use. Before I had some drum mics(i forget what kind), an sm57, then those two cheap mxl condenser mics that you can get for like $100. I had them all through a samson mixer and then I recorded with a Roland Vs880.
