Recording on older 16 bit ADAT tape
I have a new 20 bit xt20 and have some tapes that I had formatted (with drums recorded at 16 bit) How do I make this work as I dont want to lose the old drum tracks. they're great!

Alesis ADAT XT-20
Any thoughts on this machine? They are reasonable, price wise on Ebay (for me anyway) and was wondering if anybody has had any experience they could share with me. I noted that this one is 20-bit and not the old 16 and wonder if the difference is audible.
Thanks, Beau Landry.

24 Channels of ADAT - RME only?
Does anyone have any knowledge of another product for my system that can provide 24 channels of ADAT i/o other than the RME Hammerfall products? I also would like to have Word Clock connections.
There is nothing wrong with the RME, and will probably be picking one up in the next week or two, just checking in case I have missed something else that I should be looking at.

Advice on live rec'ding band w Mackie 24 + ADAT
Hello all.
If anyone has any advice, I'd be most appreciative in advance.
I'll be recording a theatre performance, 4 singers and a band. All the instruments and singers will be miked and going through a Mackie SR 24x4 board.
Since I don't have much experience with live boards, these are my questions:
ADAT XT20 or M20?
I am currently shopping around for an ADAT machine. I've been looking at the XT20 and M20. I can't tell much about the difference between the 2 though. Yes, the M20 has more I/O and 24 bit processing, but is it a worthwhile machine? My biggest question is: if I record on an M20, can I mix on the XT20?

8 channel ADAT io card
Does anyone know of a simple 24 bit 8 channel ADAT i/o PCI card for PC (Win98se)? I'm after something around the two to three hundred Australian dollar mark.
Basically, I have a Mac G4 running Pro Tools / Digi 001 and a PC running Reason 2. The ADAT card will be used to connect 8 channels of Reason from my PC into the 001 on my Mac.

Alesis ADAT Classic
Hi all,
I'm about to buy a occasion-ADAT classic.
but i have a couple of questions..
1: (might sound stupid) is it really possible to (per example) record the drums on track 1, and after that recording guitar on track 2, to mix that in 1, with 1 Alesis ADAT?
2: can i use normal video tapes for recording?
3: is it worth my $400 Euro?

02R 24 bit ADAT cards?
I am an 02R owner and am considering going to a 24 bit HD recorder using ADAT light pipe. However, the Yamaha ADAT card uses a proprietary Alesis optical chip that will only pass a 20 bit word length. Other than the expensive TC Electronic 02R Unit Y card (for which you're mostly paying for the plugin processors), are there any reliable 3rd party 24 bit ADAT cards out there?

LAWP 5 and sync to ADAT
Looking forward to getting the LAWP version 5 program. Love the 4.x program!
Currently use LAWP 4.61 because it offers the best syncronization with the ADAT. Although I only use the ADAT when working with a guitarist friend exchaning ADAT tapes for recording projects, I still want to like to be able to use the ADAT with LAWP version 5.

Sonar and sync with ADAT
Still interested in purchasing the Sonar program. Before I purchase the program I would like have the following questions answered:
1) How difficult is it to sync Sonar with an ADAT?
2) How solid is the sync?
