Over here in the UK, I can get the API 3124+ for the same price as a 6 space Lunchbox (inc PSU) and 2x 512C. At the moment, i'm not gonna need more than two of the pres, but it seems silly to get a lunchbox when i could have twice the amount of pres. Though I'd bet i'll want some API EQ in the future, so i keep looking at the lunchbox.

Trying to decide on the 7600 strip or the lunchbox. All feedback appreciated.

Every dollar counts! I just did a weekend of vocals with an Avalon 737 sp and the 7600 (both borrowed). API won hands down for me. The vocalist is extremely dynamic, and it was so easy to get transparent results from the compressor. Nice & warm as well. So. anybody know where the best deal is, pretty please?

Hey, I'm thinking of getting better preamps.

I'd like to use them to record nylon string guitar both classical stuff and pop/jazz, but I'd also like them to be as "all purpose" as things can be ranging from vocals to drums from the aforementioned classical to alt.rock or blues rock or trippy acid rock a la Jefferson Airplane or popressive pop stuff.

for more of a linkin park vocal sound, which mic preamp should i get?

i just bought a 6b lunchbox for $400 + shipping,brand new, but i've seen people selling,on ebay, the 4b version for over $800.
what's the difference? i mean, pardon my ignorance, but isn't 6 more than 4?
or is the power supply better?

I would like to build some API mic preamp copies.

I found (8) API 2623-4 output transformers.

Question: which api can I build with these ?

Question: is $200 for (8) a fair price ?

I am adding some more API modules and I love my Brent Averill Neve 1272. Does anyone own his 312a's? How do they compare to the 512c's?

So I am thinking of buying a 512c preamp/di but am wondering if it operates on it's own, or if I need to buy one of those frames for the power supply... also

Why is the 2 space horizontal frame (500H) so much more expensive then the six space lunchbox (500-6B) and the 12 space virticle rack (500V)?
