exporting from digital performer ?
I'm using digital performer for a project. i've got a combination of MIDI tracks and recorded soundbites in the file. the MIDI stuff is going through a Kurzweil keyboard and the soundbites are being played back through a DigiDesign MBox. both of these are hooked up to a mixing board, so i can monitor both at the same time.

Maybe someone can help me here:
I have a really old analog Yamaha RM1608 sixteen track mixing board. I also have a Tascam US-122 Audio/MIDI interface running into a computer equipped with Cubase SL.
Passing quality digital through cheap spdif
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if passing the signal from a high quality converter to my PC via a cheap interface will cause degradation. I have a cheap Edirol interface through which I'd like to pass a stereo signal from Apogee converters. I don't want to have to buy something like an RME Digiface, as it would be overkill.
Many thanks,
John Stafford

Need Digital Recording Direction
Hi, I am new to recording and need some direction, so here are some questions for the experts out there. I am using Cubase to mix and Wavelab to master:
1. IN mixing, How much headroom should I factor in when recording my separate tracks? Do I just try for the closest level to 0 db without clipping or do I factor some decibals like -5db or -10db.

I thought digital-overs were bad?
ok, I always been told, and have read about how your master bus shouldn't go over 0db or you will have digital clipping, causing distortion or whatever, yet this doesn't seem to effect my tracks which are always pumping in the red, .

fed up with digital performer...any ideas?
I used to post at RO a lot when I got my studio up and running thanks to everyone here. After about a year I’ve reached a point where I almost hate DP. It is one of the most unstable programs i've ever used.

Analog Processing in the Digital Chain...so what?
Mixing & Mastering Peoples,
I recently performed a line input gain characteristic test on my newest piece of project studio gear (the dbx 386 Dual Channel Vacuum Tube Preamp), by which I compared the quality of a synth module piano program preamped via both the analog & digital sections.
