When I bounce to disc a mix sometimes the 2 track mix won't play.

I'm not very good at electronics or digital but a doubt came to my head when i was going over some material right now.

In analog gear, whenever you use an eq etc, you change the phase, backwards or forward, of the voltage or of the current because of what inductors etc do to the signal running through it.

I want to go straight from my tape machine to my digital interfaces. The probelm is I hit tape really hard and when I go straight to the intrfaces they clip. I'm trying to avoid going through the preamps again. There is no gain reducer on my interfaces so I have to do it before it hits them. Any sugestions?

A few months ago I bought a Digital Audio Wave 8799 laptop. It's a P4 3.4 gHz, 1 gig of ram, the works. It cost a pretty penny and is supposedly designed for audio.

If you're interested in digital music technology, there's an event called DigitalLife in NYC in October that might interest you-- it seems like it's kinda in a similar vein to something like CES. You get a chance to see a bunch of new tech products early.

Usually what I do during a mix on my computer is just keep turning each wave that is low in the mix up, and by the time i'm done I end up having the main mix level at like -15, and each Wavesvolume at like +2 to +12 or something like that. In the analog world I know doing this might create problems, but in the digital domain does it even matter at all?
