Yoga DM 788 Kick Drum mic!
I just got one nice and cheaply off eBay.. anybody used/heard it? I don't expect anything amazing but I just wanted a kick drum mic nice and cheap!
I know Yoga seem to make some of the OEM/copy Audio-Technica mics so I am hoping it won't be too bad.

Drum Sampler Help (Battery)
Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for the advice on recording programs and such earlier. I'm looking at getting Drumkit from Hell now and using a sampler with it for my drums. However, I've never used a sampler before, so I thought I'd get a demo version of one to try out and get a feel for one before buying it.

Drum Shields
Anyone have any tips for Micing a live drum set w/shields? I have no experience with this, however I would imagine there would be problems with the sound bouncing off the shields and back into the mics. Here is my usual setup:
Kick - sm91
Snare - sm57
Toms - 421s
OH - dpa 4011
Any advice on placement or other mics I should try?
thanks!

C1's or C4's for Drum OH?
I'd like to purchase some Studio Projects Mics.
I need a decent set of OH's for my kit.
I have a TLM 103 I use for vox & other things so I'm mainly looking to use the SP's on Drums.

Using a Pre to beef up a drum machine.
I use 2 drum machines and would like to know if running them through a decent pre, would that yield lustful or some sort of sonic advantage? I use a Akai MPC4000 which I think can go either way as far as using a pre because it has some alright pre's itself. On the other hand, my Roland R8 could defenitely go for a pre because it is'nt as hot as the Akai. Any thoughts?

Drum pads for "live drummer" feel?
I'm wanting to play electronic drum pads with live drum samples rather than simply programming, to get the feel of a real drummer, but I've struck a problem...
I've hooked up my drum pads to my Alesisi D4 - works great - but the D4 internal sounds aren't so great, so...

ALESIS D4/Drum Pads/EMU Sampler?
I've struck a problem...
I've hooked up my drum pads to my Alesisi D4 - works great - but the D4 internal sounds aren't so great, so...
I connected the MIDI out of the D4 to my EMU sampler hoping that I could use the drum pads via the D4 to trigger some great drum samples I've got in the EMU sampler, but.

Bandwidth of My Raw Drum Tracks Seems Narrow
Hi there,
This happens to me over and over...I tune and mic up my kit as best I can, but the raw tracks in their relative balance seem very puny(lacking top and bottom) compared to the sound of my raw guitar amp(Les Paul/Mesa Tremoverb/SM57) and P- bass DI tracks.
The latter instruments come across much richer and louder than the drum tracks for a given peak meter reading.
Drum Overhead Mics - Studio Projects
I was wondering if anyone has used any of the studio projects
mics as drum overheads and what the results were. Just curious
about how they would sound. Thanks.
