Not sure what is the most standard practice for this, still new to it.

What's your feel on limiting the drum bus ?
When I'm doing rock, blues etc I mostly always run a pretty heavily compressed sub together with the main drum sub. Does anyone ALSO limit the drum subs too ? I'm just wondering about controlling spikes closer to the source instead of shearing them off with a limiter on the overall mix.

I would like to have drum machine software on my mac (like fruity loops) however fruity loops has no mac version. Can I get some suggestions on software? And now that i think aboubt it, is it better to have drum machine software or a drum machine? Intrigue me.

Can anyone tell me what eq settings I should use for kick, snare and toms? I play heavy. Use a Tama Rockstar with Evans clear G2 on toms. Evans EQ2 on kick and a Pearl brass snare with Coated Emperor.

Recently I've been trying a new method of getting that all important drum sound. I've been quantizing all my individual drum hits and replacing them with samples.

I really like this method becuase it gets everything sounding nice and tight, and it seems easier to get those tom fills sounding nice and even.

new to this forum, I searched this kind of topic before posting but did not find anything, so here we go.

I'm using this machine right now and I really like the sounds and how easy it is to use it, but I was wondering if it is possible to loop the drum patterns without hearing the metronome sound because when I record with the metronome on, the metronome sound is also recorded.

I want to add some flexibility to my acoustic kit when I play live. Ideally, a drum machine (or midi interface to sampler ), 2-3 padsand 1-2 acoustic triggers) to be used for specials sounds (persussion, hand claps, different snare sounds, hand drums...). Want to keep it simple as well. Like the Roland SP20 - a bit expensive though.
