phantom power with sm57
The phantom power on our new mixer is on or off for all channels. The only dynamic mics we use are 57's.
Is it ok to use them with phantom power on or do we need a seperate pp before the condensers hit the mixer. thanks in advance.

Chevin power amp
I'm looking for new power amp to upgrade from my 'old' Crown DC300A.
A friend gave me a good price for Chevin and Hafler series.
How do you guys rate this Chevin? is it worthy as mastering amp?
Many thanks in advance...

Guitar Cable/Power Cable
Hi!
What's the major difference between a guitar cable and a power cable(that runs the power signal from the amp to the speakers)?
The impedance? What should be to both?
Keep on,
Murdock

Speaker choice/power rating
Here's what I got so far:
The most important thing is not to let the amp start clipping, because then you get all this extra high-frequency energy which is really destructive to voice coils and so forth. Much more important than the max power rating, since an amp rarely gets turned up all the way anyway...

Mic Power supply's a hummin-OK to use a ground lift adapter?
So there's one and only one thing in the studio here that introduces ground hum.
A power supply for a tube mic.
Everything's on one isolated circuit BTW.
A 3 to 2 prong ground lift adapter will silence this nutty piece o' hummin gear, but is it safe? (This mic will be used for a D/I'd electric guitarist who will be simulaneously playing and singing).
Increasing power of mix or sound without clipping
hello this is my new post here :)
Ground Hum/Power Cond or what?
Hi. I recently moved to a new place with a terrible 60~ hum.
This is not a problem with any wiring I did... this is a problem in the house. I get a hum simply from plugging just about anything into the wall, especially a guitar amp. But I can even hear a slight hum from my computer being plugged in.. so its pretty bad.
