Hi Folks,
Has anyone hear got any info on the following mike as for recording
uses ?

SENNHEISER MD 21

Just purchased a couple today at a Church Clearence sale they where part of the Church PA Got the 2 mikes an old valve amp little speakers for $210 Aus.
They have small 3pin male sockets so will have to make up some adapter leads. They seem to go all right with the old PA system but
when I tried them with the mic leads they came with (the other end seemed normal XLR connection) on a powered monitor there was nothing but a hum.
So perhaps the old leads aren't wired the same ?Hopefully
someone can help me out re these old mic's.
I was even thinking of using one for playing harmonica through. They kinda look like a cool harp mike.

Thanks for taken a look Cheers
Slim.

I've only used the MD 21 for recording one instrument, but quite often seen it as a speech mike (mostly as a mobile interview mike). For which I belive it was constructed. I've seen it used quite often (before lapel mikes became common) in churches for PA use.. notwithstanding that its an Omni, it's quite forgiving on ambient noice...

I'd guess that it will work pretty well on harmonica. What I use it on? ~ Spot mike on Orchestral Double Bass when I need some umph in the bottom register.
