Problems with Cubase 5 & Alesis Multimix 8 USB

I cannon get Cubase 5 to recognize my Alesis Multimix 8 USB. (Please note that it is not the USB 2.0 model.)

I have tried visiting the Alesis website to download ASIO drivers, however there are none available for this board, as it is a plug n play device. The board included a copy of Cubase 4 le, so I am assuming that it SHOULD be compatible with Cubase 5.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

What OS version are you using? There were some problems with the original Multimix 8 USB driver with XP SP2, and it almost certainly will not work with Vista or W7.

I am using XP Home Edition with SP3 installed. I just can't get windows to recognize the Alesis boards ASIO drivers. It picks up the direct sound drivers, but those have nasty latency issues.

My guess is that the driver doesn't like XP SP3 either. Time to

My guess is that the driver doesn't like XP SP3 either. Time to fire this one at Alesis tech support, such as it is. At least they may be able to tell you that it is known not to work with XP SP3.
