I finally replaced the cheezy keyboard and mouse that came with my G4. No more noisy, sticky keys and no more puck! YAY!
I got a Microsoft Office Keyboard and a Microsoft Optical Trackball. These products were made for PC, and only come with PC software CDs, but you download the drivers and software for Mac off of the Microsoft site.
The difference in features and performance is like night and day. After shopping around for overpriced, "made for Mac" products, I stumbled on a site that suggested these two products, and I couldn't be happier with them.
I got a great deal on them through Micro X-press. Their price was $31 for the keyboard, $34 for the trackball, and $12.94 for shipping. If anyone is looking for replacements for their cheezy Mac input devices, I highly recommend these.

I'm quite sure it would make a better street hockey puck than it did a mouse. Paid $1500 for a tower, keyboard, and mouse, and the latter two were of "flea market" quality. I tried the new "pro" keyboard and mouse that now come with a G4, and they aren't much better. With the exhorbitant prices they charge for a Mac, it's a sin that they don't include state of the art input devices. Hehehe...maybe Apple should just get Microsoft to manufacture their input devices...they're a hell of a lot better than what Apple has come-up with...
The other part of the "big scam" here is the third party, after-market Mac-compatibles. They take a plain keyboard like you can get for a PC for $20, change the software so it'll work on a Mac, slap the "Macintosh Compatible" title on it, and charge $50. Hmmm...maybe I'm in the wrong business... :p
I'm just sitting here thinking...this Microsoft keyboard and mouse are infinitely better than Apple makes for their own computers... Microsoft Internet Explorer is the best browser to use on a Mac... the new Microsoft Windows Media Player for Mac absolutely ROCKS...
I love my Mac, but it seems like it's getting to be more and more of a MICROTOSH.
