My question is basically this. .
Is it worth it to try set up an old Student style kit for fun and recording?

Anyone had any joy running PTF on a P4 system? If so, what's your config? Motherboard / BIOS / chipset / processor?

Any help appreciated!

I have used B&K 4006 mics (they are omnis) and was amazed by their sound quality. (The 4000 series mics are now distributed by DPA.) I would love to buy a pair, but that would cost in the neighborhood of $4,000.

Can someone who has had experience with both please compare and contrast the:

In an earlier post I complained that my refridgerator would cause a pop to go through my system when it turned on. I had a friend who gave me this "noise filter, surge protector". Should I plug it into my soundcard(Tascam 428) or my power amp? Or will it matter...or could there be another piece of gear that needs it?

I don't know if this belongs here or not... It's kind of a follow up to the "Gear means nothing" thread... in a way.

I'm runnin my mic through a Mackie 1202 vlz pro preamp and by passing its eq's to go str8 to Nuendo, wut are some good overall 4 band eq's for rap vocals, or a good start for me to learn from. Also is it good to add a slight reverb and moddelay to vocals to depthen them? I heard something about stereo echo, wut does it do? thx

I've recorded some vocals which sound good, but they just don't stand out in the mix, even though they're panned dead centre, and everything else is panned out.
I saw Inside Edition on ABC last night, where the host (Deborrah Norville) recorded a track with dance producer/remixer Junoir Vasquez.

i own a small 16 track digital studio, after recording and mixing i send my projects to one recording studio for mastering, what i would kindly want to know is what exactly is involved in mastering, what happens in a mastering studio that one cant do in a simple recording studio, i would also want to know what basic equipment is required for mastering as i hope to go into that field when i acqu
