i need to record a cajon solo session at my home studio. the room 18' L x 22' W x 11' H
i have at my disposal a Portico 5012 2-channel pre, personus firepod pre and the following mics:

your advice in mic placement and mic choice(s) is very much appreciated .

I am recording with a Macbook Pro, and thinking about getting a SM7B for hip hop vocals. I'm kind of new to this, and I know that dynamic mics don't need phantom power and all of that like condensers do... so, this may be a dumb question, but does that mean that there's a cheaper option for me as far as an interface goes without sacrificing too much sound quality?

I have a basic home Daw (Saffire LE + Audition) and am leaning to read/write music. I tried a program called Music Masterworks to convert my live voice into notation, but it doesn't like the Saffire (only works with my onboard cheapo soundmax).

i have an Audix f90 that i'm not terribly happy with. except that i love how tiny it is. i want a different sound though.

is it a thing with small microphones like this? or are there other clip on condensers that do sound better? the f90 lacks high-enddefinition, it's too "smooth".

So In A Couple Days I WIll Be Purchasing A RODE NTK and A PreSonus Eureka for a total of just under $1300 Dollars.

Can You Think of any other mic & pre combo that would give me better quality? i also thought of using the AT 4047.

Hi all,
I have two generis microphones that appear to be large diaphram tube mics... cant find fino on this pair.
If one "googles" generis you get to learn a lot of things you probably didnt know, but none of it it mic related.
Any clues ?
