Red5 Audio Microphones
I hope this doesn't break any forum rules. A band I am recording sent one of the members dads along to talk to me and play with some of my mics before he bought his own LD condensor.
I showed him the K2 and AT4033 I have which were in his price range (well the K2 was a bit out) but he has ended up going for a Red Audio RV15 valve mic (tube mic).

Microphone Cables (Length)
i'm going to be changing the location of my project studio, and this will allow for a small noise free booth with monitoring in a completely different room. it should be much more convenient and noise free.
with this new location, much longer XLR cables will be required to get signal from the microphones. so my questions are this:

NEW Red Mic!
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this mic
http://
I'm on the verge of investing in an Blues Kiwi and came across this. The interchangeable capsules look hot! And the price is right if it's good.
Thanks for any input.

Low budget mic packages vs. . a few good mics
Hi,
Still on the low budget drum microphone quest. I would be happy enough with just a 4 mic setup - 2 OH's a bass and snare mic for live playing and practice recordings. I've narrowed it down to the following 3 choices. Prices including tax:
- Superlux 5 pack DRK-A3C2 :
bass,snare, 2 OHs and 1 tom plus 5 XLR cables & 1 clip for $424 Can
Voice Activated Microphone
I was recommended to bring my query to this site by a friend on another forum.
Ok, i'm currently writing a series of PC modules to setup voice recognition stuff for my house. Already written section for taking answer phone messages and reading them out.

Mic servicing costs
Gentlemen
I'm interested to know if mic servicing is expensive, and how often it should be done. I buy a lot of mics second-hand, and I think it would be a good idea to have them inspected, and the diaphragms cleaned if necessary. I know some people say you should have this done every five years, and others say two years, but I suppose that depends on the amount of use.

Lawson L251 Vacuum Tube Mic
I just purchased the lawson L251 tube mic to replace my Neumann TL103. I have a ten day trial on this mic. Out of the box, i have to say that i am not reallying hearing a huge difference between the two mics. and i might even say that i am really disappointed. My signal path is the mic directly into an Avalon M5 then into my MOTU 2408.
