microphones, tube vs. . Electret, cardioid, omni, etc.
Hello, I'm new to the forum.
I'm a singer/songwriter, and in the process of setting up my home recording studio.
Here's what I have:
PC is a Dell 2400 series, Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 2.20GHz, 256MB, hard drive 40GB.
Martin D35
Roland MA-8 Monitors (a gift)
Beyer dynamic M88N(C) mic. (old, but rebuilt)
Mic pads? When to use?
I am ordering a pair of Kel HM-1's for my project studio. These mic's have to pad or HPF. I will be running these into my PreSonus Firepod which has mic preamp's, but no pad.
How effective are in line pads vs an integrated mic pad, and when should I use them?
Newbies. Don't you just love us!

What's the better mic. Sennheiser e845, e855 or AKG D880?
I need a mic to sing MPB/ POP music (MPB (música popular brasileira) is an acronym for Brazilian popular music.).
I am looking at a Sennheiser e845, e855 or AKG D880?
Thanks for any advice!
electric guitar, EQ before or after mic?
So let's say you're recording an electric guitar, multitrack, to be used in a band setting.
Do you:
Dial in EQ on the amp, using the low/mid/hi knobs, to the way you/the guitarist want it, then just record that signal and keep it relatively flat from there?

Mic Stand Adaptors
Folks...I've got some interesting orchestra location jobs coming up which will require some very VERY tall mic stands...one in particular that has been scouted shows the conductor's stand 2 ft from the front of the stage - then it drops off 9 ft to the traditional orchestra pit...absolutely no way to place a traditional mic stand.

beyer mics
Anyone use the digital beyer mics? I am considering buying one...
Todd Rundgren used one along with some mic modeling software on his latest LIARS CD.
