Better Mic or Better Pre?
Hi, I'm new here. I'm a drummer looking to mic my drums for recording.
I've read that a rule of thumb is to spend at least $500 per channel.
I currently have about $1000 to spend and figured it would be better spent on 1 or 2 good channels rather than a bunch of drum mics.
With that in mind is it better to spend more on the mic or the pre?

You pick the mic
What mic would you pick to capture a breathy, inimate vocal performance ala Dianna Krall. The budget is $1k and for this excercise assume you have a preamp and monitors that are up to the task.

I was wondering if any one knew where to get a mic stand 5/8"-F to
1/2"-M NPS pipe thread adapter for RCA & R44

telescoping Mic Stands for recording.
I'm trying to find one or two mic stands that are telescoping to record live concerts from a small recital to full size orchestra or band. Just wondering what other people use and which ones are sturdy and transportable, and if some are better for stereo recording.

Electric Bass Recording Trends: DI vs. . Mic
Curious to know most widely used bass recording technique used in pro and semi-pro projects: DI vs Mic vs Both?
99.9% of sessions and original projects I work on use DI. In fact I can't recall ever using mic on my rig (or brining my rig) during a session.

Mystery of the Tube Mic
Dear RO brothers (and sisters, if you're there),
I just posted a thread in the Vocal Booth section concerning a new microphone, but since it's really a hardware issue, I thought I'd toss a link to it here. Very appreciative if you had a peek:
