I've been searching for a product that can give me some good think bass lines, punchy kick drums, real snares, and some satisfying instruments (strings, brass, flutes and synths). I make Hip Hop/Rap beats, and I'm looking for a product that will give me a Main Stream sound. So far I've examined:

Roland MV-8000 (found out I would have to add my own sounds to enjoy it)

Has anyone had a chance to audition the EVENT ASP6 or 8's? Im Really intrested in these monitors.

I have the following set up :
ADATs, Mackie 24 desk, MOTU 24/08, G4 MAC, CD burner etc.How do I set this lot up to allow me to inputs to desk, through ADATs to MOTU, on to the MAC, edit then route the tracks back to the desk to allow me to adjust tracks on the desk before stereo output to CD burner.

Are Sytek preamps about the same as RNP preamps sound and quality wise? I noticed that you can get 4 ch of sytek mpx-aii for under $1000 which puts in in the same price class as RNP-

Curious to know if an external firewire drive will work with Halion. What if I were to purchase an ATA 100 drive, 8mb buffer, put it in an external fireware case. .

Also, do all of the firewire cases come standard now with the Oxford 911 chipset?

Does anyone here charge clients to get a studio piano tuned for a session? I have always seen this as a normal thing studios (especially low cost studios) do and have had other clients pay for it without compaint but I have been trading emails with a prospective client recently and she seems fairly put off that I am asking her to chip in 1/3 of the tuning cost for her session.

Hey all, trying to tighten up on my skill set. When recording keyboard patches, piano, rhodes, etc., is it better to record stereo or mono?
If Mono is the choice, what are some of the techniques in giving thee tracks that ambient sound and feel.

what type of drive set-up will i need? i have a MOTU hd192, running DP4 and i want to record at 96k. right now i have the 60gb (boot/programs) and a 120gb firewire drive. will that cut it? should i get another internal instead of the firewire? or what about scsi? and if i use scsi can i use the normal internal as a boot disk?
