I've noticed that removing some freq's around 500hz seems to help remove some of the unnatural punchiness of acoustic guitar pickups - but i was hoping some of you have more experience in Eq'ing them to get them sounding more natural.

does anyone have any advice they'd like to share concerning getting a punchy yet smooth tone when recording trumpet?

I'm in the market for a 24/32 track mixer. I only have $600-800 to spend. The Behringer is in my price range but in every forum people have bad things to say about them. They say the break down really easy and I'm hard on my gear. But price and time is tight right now. I really want/need a analog mixer right now.

I was telling this guy I met who happens to own a indie label that I was going to purchase a HHB or masterlink CD recorder to produce my CD's and he said no matter what model I purchase it will not put the same kind of time codes on my CD's that a CD manufactuer equipment will. Is this true and does this really matter, if so why?

Hey folks, I'd like some help making a decision. I have an XT-20 ADAT with 200 hours on it, that I used to record my old band. At the time, it was a good move.

Now I have a small project studio set-up with an 828mkII and a G4 Mac. My typical signal chain is Mic > VMP-2 > 828mkII (A/D) > Mac.

Another question: are there any advantages or disadvantages to using W2k service pack 4 instead of 2? (DAW, not connected to Internet)

My question is...what are some of the best compressors to use for tracking, mixing, or mastering? Out of these compressors which ones are worth buying? Behringer Tube Composer, ART Vla Pro, Avalon, Aphex, Jomeek, Dbx 160's, Focusrites, etc... If I didn't mention some great compressors...please name some :p .
