Will a Composite Video D/A work for Wordclock?
Forums
Hello all,
I am looking at getting an Apogee Rosetta (or simular), and I am also wanting this to serve as my "Master Word Clock" via the 75 Ohm BNC connections.
I will need to distribute this signal to 3 or more devices, so I will need a Distribution Amplifier. Will a good Broadcast quality 75 Ohm composite video D/A work?
Doubled-up tracks?
Forums
Ever doubled up a track for two totally different purposes? Let's start getting creative!
Some things I've done:
Double a vocal track, run one through a compressor, then mix the compressed track with the dry one - the original dynamics remain, but the volume never dips below a certain threshold thanks to the compressed track.

Hi:
Hardware Processing With a DAW
Forums
There have been several threads going on around here forever about the virtues (or lack-thereof) of passing the signal through a compressor on the way into a software-based DAW (hard drive). I am not here to once again debate whether or not this is good idea, let's just say for the sake of argument in this thread, that it *is* a good idea.

Midrange...
Forums
Hello. I have lurked around here a bit, and I am about to upgrade my seriously outdated computer to do some home recording. I was thinking about jumping to a P4 2.4Ghz Northwood. Any suggestions on a good mid range mother board for me?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks.
Nick

Video shielding monitors?
Forums
Hi!
I have a question: I'm planning to buy a pair of monitors for my project studio at home. Since the space is limited one of the monitors will be very close ( less than 40 cm) to my video monitor. Do I have to buy video shielded monitors, or can I buy non-shielded monitors and do something to make it work ?

Esteban: Artist or Scam Artist?
Forums
With embarassingly mediocre chops, and sounding like someone who's been playing the instrument for about a year, guitarist Esteban is upon us.
With 2 million albums sold worldwide, and reaching the top of the Billboard charts, there is no questioning his success.

Who makes a good front end pre-amp?
Forums
I found the importance of having a good pre-amp when I was tracking a bass guitar on a session a while ago. We dicided to use the pre's on the Akai MPC we were using that evening. I've always said I'd like to get my hands on an ART Pro MPA or something like a Avalon VT737 or equivalent. Anyhow, the track sounded superb.

Near-field Monitors positioning.
Forums
OK, I've heard everyone say to place your Nearfield Monitors in an equilateral Triange to your listening position. I'm fine with that.
But I also remember concerns with Phase distortion when speakers are angled towards the center.
So, which do you prefer?
A) Nearfields pointing STRAIGHT OUT, parallel to each other...
