best preamp: MOTU 896HD, Tascam DR680, ROLAND R44?
Forums
Hi guys,
I need to record piano recitals with 3 or 4 Audio Techinca mics. I use MOTU 896HD with Macbook Pro and Logic Pro, but it isn't really a "portable" solution. So I wonder if Tascam DR680 or ROLAND R44 could be a good solution. In your opinion MOTU's preamps (and generally the recording quality) are better then DR680 and R44, or not? Quality is similar or not?

Define Analog Recording
Forums
Man, have I been slightly off here. I mean, I have always thought when stating I love analog, I'm understood that its "using" nice outboard analog gear "in combination" with a DAW system = Hybrid also. To me it just doesn't mean recording to TAPE.

Mackie 1604 ( patchbay ) is this wrong
Forums
Hi everyone, and Happy 4th. I have a Mackie 1604 I use as a monitoring setup, and a glorified patchbay with my Digi003 & PreSonus Digi FS, since latency is introduced I have the players through the Mackie for monitoring, and I also will route recorded tracks back to the Mackie for external effects and a tube Preamp.

Even with the changes in the way music is sold /distributed, some things haven't changed since Alan Freed was "spinnin' the platters that matter" in the 50's according to this NPR article I just read:

Cheap-o Recordings
Forums
Hello, my name is Chase and I would like to know how to make professional-sounding (what I mean is NO FEEDBACK) recordings. Recordings without hissing and other annoying noises. I have a cheap mic and a used Shure mic already, along with all the instruments I need, but when I try to record, there are annoying hissing sounds with BOTH mics. I a newb, so I know little about this.

SSL X Desk - need sub groups - how to expand? modify to get additional 8 sub groups?
Forums
hi to all,
i'm happy user of SSL x desk but i need 8 additional sub groups. X desk has 16 channels totally (8 line inputs and 8 alternate cue mix channels) 8 inserts and 8 direct outs. my dream is to build or use (modify SSL x desk?) some existing features to get 8 summing sub groups. is that possible?
thank you in advance
