Yamaha Drum Kit for Hard Rock/Metal

Hello!

A band that i engineer has just got an endorsement from Yamaha. We want a Drum Kit. Very Hard Rock, metal. Want a very mordern sound.

Which Yamaha Drum Kit is best suited. The Stage and Recording Customs as Birch. Are Birch and Maple equal ?
Next post on Drum heads.

I do not have much experience with woods vs sound.

Thanks a ton!

Computer drum track recording

i currently have a samson kit 7 for drum mics, and a 7 piece pacific cx.. looking for the best way to record this kit. mics are for a standard five piece kit with two overhangs. i want to record stereo tracks onto my computer. whats the best way of creating a nice sound with the mics ? also a recommended mixer and how many channels needed XLR, and or inputs..

Drum Trigger Compatibility with Modules

I am looking to trigger a Mapex Pro M 22'' kick and also mic it with my Sennheiser e902. I was planning on buying a Ddrum DRT trigger but I was wondering if I can use that trigger with any module? More specifically one from an older electronic drum set made by Koncept. From the module I would run the midi signal into my MOTU 828mkII and then into my Mac.

Optimum Drum Micing choice

Forums

I'm recording a 2 piece rock band and I'm wanting to get a very loud drum sound... kind of like a dirtier black keys, and I'm working in a decent sized studio but I'm a little overwhelmed with my selection of gear and thought i'd ask for some advice on my selections.

Im recording with Pro Tools HD3 with a few outboard pres and a Yamaha DM2000 digital console.

Your Kick Drum Micing Techniques!

Has anyone ever tried putting a heavy weight inside a kick drum (on a pillow) before? I was assisting on a session where a very reputable engineer/producer did this. He said the weight lowers the resonance of the drum and essentially makes the kick sound more tight. The weight also acted as a flat surface to place a Beta 91 inside of the kick.
