Mics for live recording of choir?
Hello all,
I am a member of a university choir in Sweden and also a member of the "recording group" of the choir. The recording group is going to buy new recording equipment to the choir and have finally almost made up its mind on what to buy. The only thing we are really unsure of are the mics.

Vocal stage mic - good for live recordings
A fair amount of my work is recording live concerts - usually acoustic music - not rockish things. I have a few SM58s - sometimes they do the job, sometimes they leave a lot to be desired.

so i am doing live sound and..
so i am doing live sound and I'm about to mic a marshall half stack(fancy tan/brown tweed mesh) with a 57 in the top right speaker and the guitarist tells me it sounds better if you mic the bottom speaker because of the design/acoustics on the cab.
I didnt question him and just miked it on the bottom right.
Is there any truth to this?

Recording Spoken Word - Live Q&A Discussions
I'm not sure if this is the right forum (I also tried the vocals forum), but i was hoping someone might be able to help me out. From time to time, I record 4-6 person discussion/ Q&A panels. Because of the organization's budget, I have been using the equipment that they already own (bottom-line handheld cardioid mikes, mixer, tape deck, and portable PA system).

Line 6 PodxtLive vs. . VOX Tonelab SE
--
I guess this is a poll question, but I'd like to take it a step further.
Not only would I like all you pros/semi-pros to choose which one you would use, if you could only use one, but please give a brief description why.
Keep in mind I am a bang for the buck, middle of the road project studio. I've done my own research, but am still on the fence.

need help - old Mackie mixer for live recording!
Hi!
My friend has a karaoke cafe bar. He is using some kind of 16- mono channel live Mackie mixer (old one i guess, i can't remember the model). I have a problem finding the Record Out on that mixer.
On that one, it has Alt-Out 3/4, Bus Insert, and Aux Send something like that (no Tape In/Out). And on every channel it has a small button " Mute/ ALT 3/4".
