Live Recording, how to clean up?
Hey there!
Well this weekend i was recording a live band with my mp3 player's external mic and I was looking around on the net for ways of cleaning up a recording. I found this forum, and decided to be the n00b and ask some people for help!

Live studio recording techniques?
Hi,
i'm looking forward to record the first full lenght album for my band.We already have a demo, recorded track by track, but now, we want it to be recorded with all the members playing at the same time, as we now have music with open lenght sections, and also want the recording to sond more lively, as we were deceived by the demo, which sound dull.

live show recording
hey I'm part of a typical band that generates absolutely no revenue. regardless, we still record our live sets. we don't have the time/gear to mic each instrument with a mixer. last week i set up just a simple cond. mic with a preamp to mic the room, and i shot it into my laptop. i was actually very impressed with the quality it achieved, very clean and picked up all the instruments well.

Serious Cubase Tracking Errors - 8-track live recording
Hi,
I am recording 8 tracks live into Cubase SL2.0. Latest version, Mac Os 10.3.5, Edirol FA101 soundcard.
The problem is, that after a minute or so one of the tracks always randomly slips - i.e., misses a millisecond or two and then picks up recording with a lag behind the rest.
Langevin DVC vs. . ISA 220 vs. . Millennia STT-1 for Live Vocals
I am looking for front end unit for live vocals. My plan is to either use a Focusrite ISA 220, Langevin DVC or a Millennia STT-1 running to a BSS Aduio DPR 901 II and then into an Eventide Orville for effects.
The unit will be a front end for a male vocal that can get rather high and shrill and tends to be somewhat chaotic/versatile (that is the reason for the DPR).
Live Recording & Ambient Noise
On really bad live recordings, there is an "ambient" noise around everything. You can tell it was recorded live. Sounds like all the mics were tracked through a tin can.
Is this the result of poor mics?
I am getting an AW4416, and want to start recording the local bands, do I need to start buying my own gear or get proficient in using the house gear.

live recording primer
hello all I'm trying to understand the basics of live recording. I'm planning on recording a church band using a fostex multi track rec taking the direct outs off a Mackie live mixer into the seperate tracks and adding stereo paired mics for the crowd. then dumping all into pro tools.

Tips for making live drums more raw (ala SP1200)
Hey all, I'm looking for ways to get live drums to sound more raw, but without losing too much quality (ala EMU SP1200). They are recorded pretty well with 2 OH's, snare and kick mics in a pretty dry space. I tried cycling them through BATTERY and dropping the bit rate to 12 bit, along with some slammed compression on a aux. send, but it didn't really produce the effect I wanted.
Live recordings/ console or splitter?
I am opening a cafe_coffee shop that will feature music on the weekends. I have purchased an mx2424 and plan to use the direct outs on a Midas venice to feed the recorder. There are 2 rooms that will be used for recording. One room is larger than the other and both have venice consoles...320 and 240 respectively (all recordings are live).

Drum pads for "live drummer" feel?
I'm wanting to play electronic drum pads with live drum samples rather than simply programming, to get the feel of a real drummer, but I've struck a problem...
I've hooked up my drum pads to my Alesisi D4 - works great - but the D4 internal sounds aren't so great, so...
