Anybody have any tips for this? I'm thinking we'll take a DI right off the organ, then I'll put a 414 on the Leslie (my only other available option for mics would be a 57).

I'm wondering if i should use the pad on the 414? i'm thinking i want to get the mic as close as possible to minimize bleed, and these guys play at a fairly loud volume...

I miced a drum kit using a pair of Samson C02 overheads, an SM57 on the snare and an AKG D112 on the kick. The Overheads were ran through a pair of PreSonus tubepres, and the Kick went into an art tube mp preamp. These were then fed into a Fostex VF160EX recorder.

The overall sound was very good. It sounded real, almost live, and went direct with no EQ sounding pretty decent.

When Micing up a Resonator Guitar i would use a sure sm57 placed directly towards the guitars sound board is this the correct placement to pick up the tone quality and if so is it best to use an sm 58 or an sm57 to do this or another mic which is durable enough to gig with.

There's a bit in the vid midway through when they're tracking guitars where they show off this box, it's a quiet box, for recording guitars.

Any idea of the microphone inside? It looks kind of like a 57 with a windscreen on it on a weird looking mic stand.

I recorded a group of people singing a Christmas carol last season. I used 2 mics (L and R). The person that did this with me recommended setting each mic to a stereo channel. What's the advantage of that vs a mono track for each mic?

I just bought an Audix D6 and it sounds really good in live applications but in the studio it really isn't very versatile. Does anyone have an opinion on the Audix D4 for a more natural sound. I like the Audix mics a lot because the design and the small size of it makes it easier to get the mic into the bass drum at whatever depth you want. does anyone have any tips on anything.

I have a question and need some advice for Micing two trumpets in the same studio room.

Hey guys, I'm about to start a session with an acoustic guitar musician (mostly strumming emo stuff). I'm looking to find some advanced Micing techniques. I have seen a few dvd's of instudio footage where the engineer has placed the following setup: pencil facing the sound hole, large diaphragm facing the neck, then two large diaphragms on each side of the guitar.

Stupid and silly question. Any ideas on miking/pick up an acoustic guitar? A standard western type. Should be useful for live applications too. A dry, neutral sound is what I have in mind. Not too bothered with the low freqs. Models and users opinions are welcome. Built in/pick up/transducer/combi. Whatever you may use/have used...

Ok, so, I'm attempting to record some guitar tracks onto a Zoom H4 4 track recorder. The recorder has 2 mic inputs. I have 1, possibly 2 sm58s available to me, and I just took the capsule off the mic, and placed it on an angle facing the amp. The recorder also has 2 built in condenser mic's in an XY pattern, if that would be better.
