Two questions... Sound card and MIDI drums?

I'm buying the Firebox package at Musicians friend. I currently have a soundblaster LIVE sound card. Should I upgrade me sound card also? If so, to what? Or will I be fine with that? My monitors go into my audio interface, so I assume what I will be hearing is what it will sound like. Does the sound card directly affect your recoridng or how it comes out?

logic midi problem with pedal half way down

I'm using a roland rd700sx with a roland dp-8 damper pedal connected to a powerbook. recording midi works but when I have the damper pedal half way down the notes are there in logic but aren't audbile. Any tips on getting this working would be great as I have a deadline for a piano part I'm supposed to contribute for a project.

thanks

My midi keyboard doesn't show up?

I have a ekeys37 midi keyboard just to try out until i get a better one, but for some reason in all programs nothing comes up only "Creative Sound Blaster MPU-4" i have no idea what that is but thats the only thing that comes up.

Its supposed to say USB Audio Device but that's never come up I've installed that correctly. I really don't know what to do.

MIDI controlled multi-pole filter?

Does anyone know of a filter (comb/notch/HP/LP) whose frequency can be controlled by midi note messages? If so, is it possible for the frequencies to change to match the notes. For example I would press C3 and the filter would jump or slide to 130.813Hz. Despite the narrow spectrum represented by 7 octaves, this would be a great VST.

Unstable MIDI. skipping

Hi, I've got an Audigy 2 soundcard and Sonar 4. My computer is 2.1 GHz and I've got 1.5gb of RAM. I've been recently exploring MIDI, and the recording goes well, but when I play back the MIDI, it tends to skip certain notes (even though they appear on the piano roll). If I restart my computer or Sonar, it may or may not play back normally. It's very unstable. Any idea what this could be?
