Ignorance is bliss, as they say. I've never had the chance to A/B converters. I have a MOTU 24i - picked it up on eBAY when I decided to start playing with multitrack recording.

I've come a long way since those days, and still have a very long way to go.

I've been looking at a MOTU 896 interface that's at a local pawn shop. Doesn't have any software with it, but I checked with MOTU and can download the drivers for Windows XP from their site. The price is right, and I'm leaning toward getting it, but I've heard of stability issues with MOTU stuff on Windows PCs as opposed to Mac's.

Hi everyone! I'm from Hong Kong and new to be here.

I have a MOTU 828mkII and want to find an A/D converter to add 8 more analog I/Os for it. For the all these analog I/Os (including the analog I/Os on the 828mkII itself), I will connect them with modules and synth. I have a Digi001 as well for vocal and instrument tracking (guitar, bass...etc).

Of these two interfaces, can anyone explain what the specific advantages or disadvantages of one over the other is? What's the difference about having a PCI card interface rather than something that isn't PCI based like the 896? I need some pointers here in this area, if someone could try and fill me in. Thank you.

Hi all! I have found a used MOTU 896 at a local pawn shop. It doesn't include the manual or any software/drivers. They're asking $399 for it, but I think I can get them down to $350 or so, since I'l have to download drivers and such. My question is this. My PC does not have a firewire card.

the holes in the back of MOTU gear (828mkII) are too close together to allow Neutrik connecTRS to be used; they're too fat, you have to unscrew every other one or risk stressing the holes. Do neutrik do a thinner model that is known to work. what are y'all using?

What does everyone think of MSI? Is there anything like it that cost less that has the same stuff like strings, horns, and pianos that still sound good? I am thinking on buying it but am not sure if I can save some money for other stuff..

Got a problem: No audio, loud pops.
