I've been slow coming to the age of digital recording, so please assume minimum knowledge on my part, despite that I've copiously read all my manuals and watched YouTube videos 'til my brain is mush.

I need to record piano recitals with 3 or 4 Audio Techinca mics. I use MOTU 896HD with Macbook Pro and Logic Pro, but it isn't really a "portable" solution. So I wonder if Tascam DR680 or ROLAND R44 could be a good solution. In your opinion MOTU's preamps (and generally the recording quality) are better then DR680 and R44, or not? Quality is similar or not?

Somebody please help. I haven't been able to record for about 2 or 3 months now. I was recording a kids camp and everything was ok for the first 4 weeks then my computer just stopped recognizing my MOTU 8 pre interface. I've been to the mac service center about 4 or 5 times and the MOTU service center about 6 or 7 times.

I have a MOTU 2408 Mark 1 and 2-ADAT blackface and 2-ADAT XT-20s. I am trying to get the Adats into my computer but I can't seem to find a way to get Cubase or Reaper to see the optical inputs. I also don't have a manual for the 2408 and have not had any success locating one via google, yahoo, etc. Can anyone help me to get my ADAT tracks into my computer digitally?

I was trying to hook up Digi003 and MOTU Traveler by using Pro Tools LE8,because I wanted to utilize 4 preamps of MOTU traveler.

I set the exact same sample rate,changed the internal setting to "Optical" in Pro Tools I/O,and used an optical cable(out from MOTU and into Digi003).

I read on the MOTU site that I can chain 2 8pre's together to get 16 channels of recording by using the optical connections. Has anyone done something similar to this and can offer some insight as to how easy/difficult it is? I am not finding anything very descriptive on "how" to do it, and would like to order the right cables/etc the first time around.

Looking for some help with my MOTU setup.

I am running Active Mackie HR824 Monitor and control with a Mackie Big Knob

MOTU Audio System is a plugin engine developed by Mark of the Unicorn for use in its software. Plug-in engines developed by competing manufacturers do not support MAS. However, by using an extension called VST Wrapper, Performer is able to utilize VST plugins.

My buddy let me use his Avalon sp737 for a couple of months.
The way i have i connected is as follows...
Mic/XLR-->Avalon/XLR-->MOTU Mic/Guitar#1/XLR W/fantom power off and trimzero..
Is this correct or should i be going thru the analoge TRS Line/input 1 in rear?

I'm considering picking up a 424 card and a mkII or I 24I/O interface. but I'm concerned... any experiences?

BTW - first post /Yea/ -tried to search but didn't find much on point.
