On many of the recordings where I note distortion, the distortion becomes less objectionable as the listening level increases. When the volume is low, the distortion seems worse or more displeasing.

Has anyone else experienced this exact phenomenon?

First, a clarification: It is only the last few months that I have accumulated much better listening equipment. Since then, I have been listening very closely to music of all kinds, and I cannot believe the amount of distortion I hear.

I've been poking around on this forum for a few days and appreciate the level of education.

Here's my situation.
I am a countertenor (think classical opera singer male alto) who needs to buy the last component of my traveling recording setup.
I have my little MacBook and my 24/96 Firebox (it sounds good with clean mics).

I use Pro Tools Digi003 for recording. I have my monitors plugged into the rack of the Digi003. I don't want to listen to music out of my terrible computer speakers. I want to listen to it out of my monitors.

I am trying to compress two tracks, vocals and music. I would like the music to fade slightly each time the vocals come in.

I think I've done this before on my regular compressor using a side-chain signal, but I was hoping to learn how to do it using digital effects.

I've just read that timbaland doesn't just sample music but uses software to recreate the same sounds and give a fresher version of the sampled music

Does anyone know what software programme this is?

I've heard about the commodore 64 and atari

Hello, new here and been finding lots of great info but I have something a bit specific. I make electronic music as well as urban beats with the goal to hit hard on the club dancefloors. Currently I hate using my M-Audio BX8a's (which I bought on a whim) in an naturally ok sounding small room (carpets, drop ceiling, tons of curtains). Please help me decide on the monitoring setup.
