Questions On How To Setup Vocal Recording Studio?

Forums

Hello everyone! Newbie here! :D

OK, so I've recently been getting more involved with my music, and currently thinking of setting up a small "vocal recording studio" of my own. I think in the long run, this will save me a lot of money as I can record all my vocals at home, instead of at the studio ($$$). Unfortunately, I'm pretty retarded when it comes to hooking up gear...

Multi Mic Vocal Recording? Whats a good setup?

Forums

I was hoping to experiment with using 2 mics for my vocal recordings. I have always used my soundelux u-195 as my main vocal mic, as it is the best mic I own, but I used to use a studio projects c-1 and I kinda liked that sound a bit too. The u-195 is definitley smoother, but the brightness of the c-1 seems to sound pretty nice on my voice as well...

live vocal mic

Forums

hello, I'm a singer in loud metal/rock bands but i actually sing not shout or scream so my voice isn't shout level loud. I'm looking around for a good vocal mic for live use. i owned a Shure beta 58 sometime ago but sold it because although it did cut through a loud mix it sometimes sounded a little shrill or brittle on the top end.

Rock Vocal - Compression

Forums

hey, i'm working with a band with a sound similar to that of story of the year or matchbook romance, and i'm reviewing those band's records to get some ideas and what not. listening to story of the year's "page avenue" i'm hearing a ton of compression on the vocals, but it adds kind of a cool effect in some parts. ive tried messing around with some ideas, but can't quite identify it.
