I have the boss-864 and a Mackie dfx 12. I need help on how to get good drum settings, and sound. Levels, volumes,input,fx,etc. I like low punchy bass drums, and deep toms, and a semi bright snare. I claose mic all drums too. Help me!1
You don't have a lot of room to tweak the settings on a DFX mixer it only offers lo and high eq controls and the eq points are pretty much in the wrong place for drums..
I would run it flat and eq in the boss.. get the levels as high as possible without clipping the inputs..
Kick and snare should be panned down the center and reach a -6 level ... toms mayby a bit louder according to your taste ... , panned left to right from the drummers perspective imo, overheads panned the same as the toms and should be audible but not overwhelming ...
