Hi I am Just Starting Out In Music Production and I am looking for some help on setting up my midi equipment. I have an evolution 249c midi keyB and an opcode 64x midi interface. I am wanting to know how to conect them to my pc. I have an audigy sound card with a game port.

Do i connect my sound card to my midi interface using the game port and then the keyb to the interface. ?

I am currently looking to buy a midi controller; a fairly simple one with no special features or anything, just reliable. With this purchase i intend to also get some software with lots of effects. Is there any specific type of controller you can recommend me, or software? Thanks in advance.

My friend has an API 3124 mic preamp and I keep reading in forums that those things are so hot that in order to squeeze the flavor out of them you have to pad the outputs so you can crank the drive to add the flaor it. What device is used to pad the outputs ? Thanks!

Like a few month ago producer John Feldman ( the used, story of the year, mest, and some ashlee simpson songs ) was asking band to send him demos blah blah and give his contact.

so i was reading an article on how to make a stereo track (of whatever) sound like it's coming from outside the speakers. Here is what i did(on PT):

I like really thick and heavy sounding bass drums and snares. And nice sweet toms. I record a lot of metal, punk and hardcore here.
