Recordings/mixes too quiet...

Hey guys...a major issue I'm having with all my recordings is that they're all way quiet compared to any professional music. I record using a Tascam digital recorder, but I've also been doing recordings at a friends studio with a Mackie Console and Alesis harddisc recorder, and I feel like I have my mixes as loud as I can without them clipping, but they're still way too quiet...

Recording fingerpicking guitar

I've recorded acoustic guitar several times, I usually use a single condenser, or two pencil condensers x/y'd. But this time I'm trying to record a tune without a pick, I'm sorta just getting tone and squeeks from the fingers. if any of you guys have experience with recording soft mellow fingerpicking acoustic please share.

I'm aiming towards a sound like this:

Multi-Track Recorder for an O2R (Hard Drive)

OK, so I bought 2 Yamaha digital consoles in 1998 (worked with them for about 6 years). Both 16 channels cascaded together. I've been using Tascam DA 88's and 38's for multi-track recording (digital tape). Now I want to move to a Hard Drive unit that will work with my O2R's. Any suggestions? Been out of the game for awhile... :(

Thanks in advance,
- tony

Looking for the right multitrack mixer.

I need a mixer that has around 16 channels that can plug into my computer for multi track recording... i have thought about just getting a simple 16 channel mixer with line outs then feed the outs to a PreSonus firepod... but i would rather just buy a mixer that could plug directly into my computer and every channel would show up on a different track... does anyone know of such a product?

hooking up my mixer to the pc

hey yall,

i jus recently purchased a "Behringer UB1202 Eurorack UB1202 Mixer" and I'm concerned about its interface capabilities with the pc...

1. can anyone assist in letting me know if this mixer can infact be connected to the pc (maybe via usb or firewire)

2. and if not, is there any device i can buy for this connection to be made...

thanks guys

Digikit into Mbox

A friend of me has a Roland TD4 digikit and rather then recording the line-out, I'm looking into feeding the MIDI out into PT LE, so we can edit his playing and use different samples afterwards. However my Mbox 1 doesn't have a MIDI in; will a simple MIDI to usb converter like the Cakewalk UM1G give me one MIDI file/track which I can edit with PT?

A few questions ...by a Dr. Dre interview

Hy. I was watching a Dr. Dre interview from '97 and at 20:00 he's talking about record business. And i got a few questions:
1.Usualy who owns the masters ?
Owning the masters means you get all the money from sells, internet ...
2.How much a point worth ?
3. When artists they're supposed to be paid?
4. How they're supposed to get paid ?
