Description
A digital audio workstation (DAW) is an electronic device or application software used for recording, editing and producing audio files. DAWs come in a wide variety of configurations from a single software program on a laptop, to an integrated stand-alone unit, all the way to a highly complex configuration of numerous components controlled by a central computer. Regardless of configuration, modern DAWs have a central interface that allows the user to alter and mix multiple recordings and tracks into a final produced piece.

DualbootPC: standard surf&email pc+ DAW

Can I get suggestions what dead weight/s are prime for removal from audio PC(still accesses web)...I'd planned to not, but registering software online is so handy, I am at a stop on that issue, maybe a switch of sorts...or I may use windows's "profiles" within the DAW to toggle or something. I have removed "messenger", "outlook" is more stubborn, if any ideas are available on this.

irq's (& usb ports)in use on DAW. .(edited)

I have only a modem(not in use)that was oem, and an oem ethernet pci card with nothing plugged into it,(pretty sure its not in use, as well)sharing band width with my raid controller.
I understand that # 8 if used, gives the best advantage, should I tinker?

a very nice DAW...finally !

I'm about to replace my DAW and I've been having serious "Pro Tools or not Pro Tools"-anxiety for some time now. I'm a producer and songwriter so I need this for my own production suite, I don't run a commercial studio. I use Logic and if I would get Pro Tools it would be for the hardware only. My decision - not Pro Tools ! Why ..?

Setting Up A DAW, using MOTU, MAC

As one might guess, by the title- i am looking to setup my own DAW/project studio. Primarily for recording rock, so i will probably need the ability to multitrack (drums, or multiple mics on guit. cabs). I was "trained" on MOTU's Digital Performer, so i will most likely go with a MAC and the MOTU software.

My questions are:
