Ight, Ive leared what I need to setup my DAW however, I need some advice on what to buy for my budget.

I need a firewire interface that can handle a digital piano, guitar and mic for less than 300. I have looked at the INSPIRE and some KORG and M-Audio and they all seem relitivley decent but then again I really dont know.

Any suggestions?

Who has some opinions about which is the best all-round Firewire interface based on preamp quality, A/D/D/A quality, and latency performance?

RME? Motu? Other?

The reason I ask is because I might be missing a few that might be awesome.

I need to know firewire interface compatibility with PTLE 6.9.

As long as I have LE hardware hooked-up (M-Box or 002), is it just a matter of directing PTLE to the additional interface (said interface connected to a FW 400/800 PCI card)? Will it be automatically recognized by PTLE and available for routing?

I bought a Mac Powerbook 17" full blast with Logic Pro 7 and I read something about troubleshooting when connected to a MOTU 828 mk2. Does anybody have this combination and could tell me if it works smoothly?

I really want the cheaper one(828mk2).. can anyone help me decide, what is the big difference, in stability, noise (heard a lot about power supply noise on the MK2). I know the 896HD has 8 preamps and the MK2 only has two, this is one of the main reasons i want to 896HD the most.

I'm looking to upgrade my PC, partly because I can't seem to get rid of clicks/pops from my MOTU firewire... Tried just about everything.
And of course I'd like a faster machine for my Cubase use...

Anyone using a combination of the 828 and UAD-1, with no problems? and if so - which Mobo/CPU do you use?

I have a MOTU 828mkII that randomly makes a really annoying high pitch squealing. It does this in when I am recording and playing back in Cubase and when I am just listing to Itunes. I have a PC with windows XP SP 2, but I have done the fix where you download the patch from MOTU and another from Microsoft and chance the regisry etc... Still with the random noise.
