Hello everyone. I'm new here.

Just got myself kitted out with a PreSonus 8 channel mic preamp-amp with ADAT output which i'm running into the e-mu 1212m recording with adobe audition.

when I record a band they all get plugged into a head phone amp so each person can hear what they are doing over the recording and i can hear as well and can adjust their levels to their preference.

I'm getting a digi002 rack system to do some demo recordings. Someone suggested I get a 1402-VLZ on the cheap for monitoring. These go for around $250, but money is tight. The Behringer seems similarly featured, and since the preamps (which I assume to be the main difference) are not important, can I just go for the Behringer?

Also, what is a good headphone amp system?

I'm starting to look into 5.1 production. I was just wondering if any of you guys have checked into monitoring systems for 5.1.

5 speakers + sub, plus bass management. Best recommendations?

I posted a thread a week or so ago about monitors and the responses have helped me make the decision to go buy a quality pair later today.

My question is this: how does recording and monitoring at the same time work? when I'm singing over tracks (harmonies etc) won't the mic pick up feedback from the speakers? (that's why I've been using headphones)

I've got a nice-sounding hi-fi system which I'm planning to use for monitoring recording and headphones in case I want to be precise.

I've been changing my monitoring levels lately and I'm really liking the results. I'm just wondering what others are monitoring at. My trend in the last year has been lowering my level. I don't have a set level per say, it mostly depends on the type of music but in general it's hovering around 70-80 db.

I've heard of people avoiding latency problems during overdubbing by using an outboard mixer for input monitoring.
