Grateful thanks for any help or insight on this matter ! I just built my own DAW system, AMD 1.7 ghz XP, SiS chipset, Win 98SE, Soundblaster Live!, Tascam US-428 (for 24 bit audio). The really annoying problem I am having is that there seems to be electonic noise "seemingly" coming from the computer into my mixer(similar to the little zipping noise you get when you move the mouse).

I have been using Sound Forge 6.0 and the Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction 2.0 plugin . Does anyone have experience with other noise reduction plugins that they prefer?

Quick question:

A woman I work with did an interview with a customer using her laptop to capture audio.

She used a cheap mic, and to make things worse on the recording you can hear the hard drive spinning up. It is pretty loud. Actually probably 75% of the volume of the voice.

Any recommendations on lowering the level of the hard drive whir?

Thanks for the responses. I'm using a Tascam US 428 with a P III @ 1133 mhz. The memory is 512 MB. The mother board is an AZUS. I had OPUS 2000 build me this custom DAW computer.

I get short bursts of audio noise and the red led that indicates the hard drive is working lights up for short bursts.

I am extremely new to this and would love some chiming in.

I am planning on recording a choir/ensemble. There are 45 people in it and I was going to use 2 mics in ORTF configuration, right behind the director, 12' high. Then do an MS configuration somewhere behind the ORTF setup.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best noise reduction software or plugins?

I have some old cassette recordings that I did in India in the mid 70's and there's lots of hiss, etc.

I've got a Mac G4 + Logic Audio Platinum, currently running OS 9.2.2 until all the extra goodies are available in OS X.

I have an omni studio with the delta 66 in a dell gx1 450. yes it is a POS but it is working for now. When I plugin my phones i can hear all these great little cpu noises, like cute little hummingbirds and beatiful static. no matter what program, even with no mic plugged in...

whenever i record midi (or I am playing midi) in Sonar xl 1.3.1 i get a beeping sound sometimes and then the audio drops. Anyone know how to get rid of this beeping noise?
