Lowering amp noise
Hey there, Im running a small studio in my house, and I find that my Peavey studio 112 amp is a lot noiser in my house than it was in the store :(
its really not an issue for recording, as the noise doesnt carry over into my recordings so much, its just white noise from EMI etc
I'd just leave it alone, but it kind of annoys me when Im just playing around with my guitar

midi noise and soundboard
Hello guys! I'm from Argentina and thrilled to be here for the first time. I've got a question regarding some noise I get when I connect an electrical piano via MIDI to a synthesiser which in turn is connected to the computer so as to record all intruments from it.

Noise Gates on Compressed Vocals
I am in the middle of mixing a recording session and have a vocal track that is good and I have added some compression on the track. The singer lets out a couple of heavy breaths and also is stomping a bit on the floor with his foot through out the track, needless to say when I compress for the vocal sound I want these levels are brought up. This is only real noticable when the track is solo.

dbx Noise Reduction
Hi guys,
Could you suggest something here? I have to make a CD from tape for commercial release. It's classical piano. The original tape was recorded using dbx noise reduction  , so after decoding all quiet passages have kinda poooofs--you know what I mean. Is there any way to get of rid of that?

PC Noise
Has anyone tried to put your DAW (PC) in a homemade refrigerator? I was thinking about buying a cheap 12/120v drink cooler, disassembling the "innards" and making a sealed pc cabinet. The entire project will cost less than $25, and I should have negligible amounts of noise. Will this work, :td:

signal to noise with direct guitar
I was recording a dry guitar thru an Avalon 737 last night. The dry sound on tape is real clean. I then went out an aux, balenced, thru a radial JDI, out of the JDI, unbalenced, into a pod. When the pod comes back into the mixer it has more hiss and less balls then plugging straight into the pod.

better signal to noise with dry guitar
I am recording some dry guitar tracks tonight and am getting more hiss than I want when going back through the pod. I have a les paul going straight into an Avalon 737 then into the mixer. I am coming out of an aux, balenced, into a radial JDI then unbalenced into the pod. The pod then back into the mixer. I am just getting too much hiss on the pod sound. Am I doing something wrong?
