Like the title says, I'm a beginner when it comes to audio recording. I'm looking to start recording some footage with audio using a T3i DSLR camera. I purchased the Tascam DR-40 and an Audio-Technica AT897 Line + Gradient Compact Shotgun Condenser Microphone. Today I received my products and decided to test out the Mic and Tascam recorder.

Hi guys, I'm new to recording and I just got my first audio interface, a Tascam US-1800, and a new, really nice laptop from ADK with plenty of memory, fast processor, all that, so I know my problems aren't a lack of power.

Hi. Any of you guys ever used one of these? Anyone got a manual for it - or can anyone point me towards a place where I can get one? I want to explore the possibilities of combining regular instruments with sequenced parts. Am using a Tascam MSR-16 as the main machine. Just bought a Tascam MTS-30 from Ebay - but it comes without a manual.

Hey guys so basically I just got a Tascam US 1800 and when I plug my guitar into the interface and then adobe audition I never get any sound. I can record drums just fine, but i have no clue how to get any signal what so ever on guitar. What do i do?

I am trying to install the latest driver pack that Tascam has for the US-1641 on a 64-bit windows 7 OS, but every time I try to install it the computer restarts in the middle of the process. It then boots up and asks if I want to boot in safe mode, so I have a feeling it is something in the system. I have checked for updates to the OS, but it keeps saying it is up to date.

I need a small stereo recorder to record mostly sound effects, i will sue external microphone (mkh 40, mkh 30)
is anyone of you experienced on Tascam dr 40 and Tascam dr 100?

After a year of procrastination, got an MRL reel, some tape, and a freeware oscilloscope program. Mechanically it was just replace the capstan belt that needed replacement. Did a rough calibration, and deguassed/cleaned heads. We recorded live in a basement w/ some blankets and stuff. We'll do it at our studio w/ the machine at some point, but this is where we're at so far.

After recommendations here and elsewhere, I think I'll go for the Zoom H4N or the Tascam DR40 to record lectures, conferences, and interviews.

Just ordered a Tascam US-144 interface. I currently have a PreSonus BlueTube mic preamp (older blue version) that I was trying to get rid of thinking that I didn't need it, but it occurred to me that it might be a better quality preamp than what is in the Tascam. I can bypass the Tascam mic preamp by using line in, correct?

I've been using a Tascam porta one studio for several years just as a writing tool but would like to begin improving quality of vocals. can anyone suggest a good vocal mic for recording?
