Howdy,

I'm looking for some input in regards to both these two 1 inch 16 track machines because I'm in the market for one.
Both are currently going for about $1000-$2000 depending on the condition and seller.
I've never used either of these machines and don't know anyone that has had experience with them.
Any input from those of you (on parts availability, functionality, reliability, transport quality, ect..) that have had experience using them would be appreciated.

Tascam MX2424 Copy files/Restore from DVD

I have some sessions that were recorded on the mx2424 many years ago and backed up on Panasonic DVD ram discs 5.2gb LM-DA52. I want to get the tracks off to mix on another platform.

I have tried a few things and am open to whatever works as I haven't been able to locate a system locally that has the dvd drive.
1. I popped a disc out of the cartridge and put it in the dvd drive on my windows machine but it doesn't recognize or read.
2. Bought a dvd cartridge drive and it wouldn't read the discs either (connected to windows machine)

Troubleshooting a Tascam 22-4 playback issue

I owned this reel to reel machine from when I purchased it new years ago. I want to restore it.
One issue I'm having is when playing back recordings I'm not getting audio out of track one. The VU meter shows audio is present. Other tracks are fine.
If anyone can provide some tips to for finding the root cause of failure that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Tascam HD-P2

Good morning,

I don't know if this is the right section where to publish my question.
I have a Tascam HD-P2 I use for field recording. Since a few months I have an issue with the headphones, indeed there isn't signal in them, either when I am monitoring the recording and when I want to listen to the recorded samples. The knob setting the level of the headphones is at the maximum level.
Is it a mechanical malfunction or there is something I forgot to set?
Thank you in advance.

Free Hi-Res DSD/Wav Converter/Editor from Tascam

Tascam has released a free program designed to convert and edit hi-res DSD: DSF, DSDIFF, and PCM/.Wav files.

I don't know anything about it - I've downloaded it to see what potential benefits it might have for me - but I haven't actually used it yet, so don't kill the messenger. I'm posting this strictly as a forum/public service announcement. ;)

Need help with setup for Mackie 24*8 mixer and Tascam interface

Hi folks,
I'm in the process of putting my home studio together, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting two-way communication between my Mackie 24*8 bus mixing board, and a Tascam US-16x08.
I have limited experience with mixing boards, but a friend sold me the Mackie for "an offer I couldn't refuse".

Tascam US-1800 vs US-16X08

Hi folks,
So I need an audio interface and the Tascam preamps have been recommended to me.
My local music store carries the Tascam US-16X08 with the newer HDDA (Hi-Def Discrete Architecture) preamps for $319, while another store has the older US-1800 on sale for $275, with older preamps.
Specs on each unit's preamps are good, but the HDDA specs are very impressive - "EIN rating of -125 dBu, meaning their noise level is practically below the range of hearing. Other impressive specs include a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB, out-speccing anything in its price range".
