I am putting together a office/internet computer for my studio and have a quick question before I try to install the HD. Do I need to purchase an Ultra ATA/133 PCI adapter card to use the HD I purchased with the mobo I have? And if so what are my purchasing options with price being the determining factor?

The mobo I bought is a Biostar M7VIQ. The mobo provides ultra DMA/33/66/100/133 functionality. I assumed that I didnt need an adapter card. Am i wrong?

The HD I purchased is a Maxtor 40GB Ultra ATA/133. ($60 at Best Buy right now)

So can I install the drive as is or do I need a card?

Thank you in advance!

The drives will be slowed down to whatever the controller speeds are. It will not hurt anything but your performance. Adding a controller card will allow you to get those speeds but an ofice machine running your average every day apps is not going to benefit from that in any way so it's pointless to go that route to be honest
