I don't even know what midiox is. It looks like you are using Cubase VST 5.1. You should not be looking at external instruments since you are not using it as an external instrument as far as I can tell. You want to use it as a midi input device, so go to Devices/Midi setup. Make sure you keyboard is enabled as an input device. Don't worry about output devices unless you plan on using an external synth.

First make sure that your keyboard is registered under general midi in the midi device tab and that the midi output at the bottom of that tab has your keyboard as the midi output.
You should now see a midi signal on the transport bar to the right when you press a note,but you won't hear it yet.
Then create a midi track or open a VST instrument and say yes(when it asks "do you want to create a midi track" and to the left of it, select your keyboard in the "all midi tab" and also in the output tab just below it.(if your using a VST instrument,select the VST instrument in the output tab).
Then activate either record or monitor on the midi track and you should hear it now.
VST connections has nothing to do with it.You need to setup a midi track and select your keyboard in those "all midi in" and output track slots to the left to hear the sound.
Don't forget to activate record or monitor.

Okay. I might be a bit too tired at the moment to understand it all, sorry for that. I try to find this "Midi Setup" under "Devices" but cannot find anything like that, just the "Midi Device manager". I also cannot find the "Midi Device tab" you are talking about. I think it would work fine just I have to get to understand these tabs and devices stuff.

First, most of your equipment discription is pretty vague. And what kind of soundcard are you using that has midi I/O? This is what will show up in cubase rather than the keyboard itself.

If you can get the midi ports of the s/c to show, then you'll be able to carry on with recording midi data.

Well, I provided the most detailed description of the computer system I could. I see now that it's a bit outdated since I switched computer, it has been updated now. I also provide some screenshots of MIDI device tab (?) in Cubase if it help.

The midi setup should all be in the manual. It's fairly self explanatory.

Incidentally if you look at the op's profile you will see that the "interface" is a Soundblaster Live. One thing comes to mind but, I'll leave it at that.

Under your devices tab > device setup > default midi ports, you should see everything pertaining to your midi.

With all due respect. From what I can see, you are using Cubase 5(not VST 5.1 as I thought earlier). This is a $500 bit of software and you are using a $30 sound card. Ok. It was $99 when it was new eleven years ago. That and the fact that you are not over at steinberg.net asking people who would know best of all leads me to one conclusion. It's cracked. I don't like helping people who use cracks. The manual can be downloaded from the website, so there is no proof in having that.

I CAN'T PROVE IT'S CRACKED. I realize this. And, it may very well be that you have a legal copy. In which case I strongly recommend you go to steinberg.net, register your product and get help from the largest Cubase user forum on the web. Not to turn you away from this site. The more the merrier. If you have questions about your DAW, great. As long as you've done your best to figure it out first, there are plenty of people here willing to help.

And another thing for the op. When you first began to use cubase, it should have started it's "initialization process" to setup the ASIO feature associated with your s/c. I don't know to what extent how your consumer soundcard reacted to this, but it probably isn't as compatible as if you did the same thing with a pro featured card with all the necessary components/features.

My suggestion........do away with the consumer stuff and invest in something geared towards what you're dwelling in.
