Sennheiser 416 shockmount and phase issues
The Sennheiser 416p (supercardioid shotgun mic) has a shockmount (the rycote one, used for booming) that, however you place the mic, covers a bit of the 'ribbed part' (the part with small openings)..
this must in a way compromise the directivity of the mic right?
It's a industry standard shockmount though..

ART Pro Channel question
I've read that most here think the ART Pro Channel as a preamp in nothing great. Is it worth the money to get it as a compressor? Haven't seen much said about the rest of the unit other than it's preamp.
Actually, let me expand a little more.

2 Digidesign Audiomedia III cards at a time on XP?
Hello all. Was wondering if anyone had any experience running multiple am3 cards in PT LE version 5.1 (or other) on windows XP. Digidesign user forum has nothing on this...I am trying to get two stereo S/PDIF inputs going and don't know of another way without upgrading to TDM or buying new software and hardware, which is out of my budget. A used AMIII card can be bought for a pretty cheap.
Mastering with Pro Tools
Ok, so here's the deal: I'm looking to start doing some mastering, and I'm a using a Digidesign 001. I plan on going Digital out of the 001 into a Crane Song HEDD, into a Manley Vari-mu, back into the Crane Song , and into the digital in of the 001. My question is this: Will this completely bypass any potential quality loss the 001 could add to the sound?

How big of a difference are we really talking about?
I've been researching any number of mics in the under $1k category and I find myself not really seeing a lot of difference between them on paper at least and even when it comes to reviews. Since its not really practical to test drive that many mics thats what I have to go with at least to narrow the field a bit. So the questions are these.
Problems with audio export in Cubase
Hey everybody.
I have a Cubase SX2 and the parallel Nuendo.
When I export a midi event to an audio one, the audio event seems to be a little shorter than it supposed to be.
the same thing happens even when I bounce an audio event, and I can see it clearly when its in full zoom.
